Walk the Ferry Building

 From January 10, 2022

A walk at the Ferry Building at the foot of Market Street rates an A- from the Whole Health Trek Finder (AKA  The Whole Health Vet Trekker Program). Access to the Ferry Building on the S.F. Embarcadero includes multiple options. This includes the commuter ship from the Port of San Francisco, but also by BART or Uber.

A mile or two mile trek includes the usually temperate embarcadero walk which is level and cooled by a nice sea breeze.

Benches are prevalent for short rests. Vendors of fresh food abound in the area, especially the farmers market on weekends.

On my exploration for Whole Health, I found that a good eating option was Pier 23 about a mile up the embarcadero toward Fisherman's Wharf.  Seating is indoor and outdoor with good, comfortable chairs. The place is a former Blues mecca for the area and reeks with a sense of history.

For older veterans such as myself, I recommends the sea ferry from S East Bay if you are coming from outside the area. It is so much easier to take the water commute instead of spending hours looking for parking in SF.  Port of San Francisco terminals can be reached via bus service from the BART central terminals.
